Chitter Chatter Speech Pathology provides speech pathology services to help children from as young as 18 months of age, throughout their schooling and then into adulthood. Assessments and therapy are provided by a professional and can be accessed without a referral.

 

 

 

Chitter Chatter Speech Pathology can help in the areas of:

  • Early language development with children who are not speaking by the expected age.
  • Articulation-speech sound disorders.
  • Expressive language skills whereby a child is unable to communicate their needs, feelings and thoughts to their communicative partner.
  • Receptive language skills/comprehension which affects the child in all aspects of their life, both at home, and at school. Being able to follow an array of instructions and answer the barrage of questions asked of them in a multitude of environments, requires strong receptive language skills.
  • Listening skills.
  • Vocabulary building.
  • Semantic organisation-being able to organise and make sense of what is happening around them.
  • The ability for children to tell and retell stories known as oral narrative skills which is the pre-cursor to writing.
  • Phonological awareness skills which are the early literacy skills required to succeed with reading and spelling.
  • Stuttering for individuals of all ages.
  • Spelling and spelling rules.
  • Reading and reading comprehension.
  • Writing the various genres required by the school curriculum.
  • Editing skills to ensure written work is of a high standard.
  • NAPLAN literacy practice. NAPLAN is the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy test for children in Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 school years.
  • OLNA literacy practice. OLNA is an on line literacy and numeracy assessment given to adolescents in years 10, 11 and 12 who do not achieve a band 8 or above for their year 9 NAPLAN test.
  • Assistance for adolescents in high school who require help with their reading of designated novels and writing assigned essays.
